Welcome to Unveiling Apocalypse

Welcome to Unveiling Apocalypse: A Book of Revelation Podcast.

Allow me to tell you a little bit about this podcast, and in doing so, a little bit about my own story.

Like many other Christians, I held a strange fascination with the Book of Revelation, that seemingly esoteric text lying at the conclusion of the New Testament. After enrolling in theological study, I quickly realised that there was much, much more to the text than the interpretations offered by most mainstream Christians - that the context, cultures, and ideas that underpinned the text were supremely important in understanding its message. This led to me beginning, and completing, a PhD in the Book of Revelation.

Along the way, and as I have continued on my journey as a research and teaching scholar, I have realised that the world of Biblical scholarship holds many answers which simply do not register for a majority of the Christian world. Conversely, I continually see a variety of harmful interpretations of the Book of Revelation - interpretations designed to prey on fear of judgment and the unknown, interpretations which seek to divide and cast judgment rather than to build up.

Academic Biblical scholarship may not hold all of the answers, but many of the scholars I have encountered are genuine, honest people who are endeavouring to aid others through their work. This podcast, then, is a simple attempt to bring their voices to a wider audience in a non-academic, accessible format. There are no right or wrong answers, just a discussion based on the principles found in all academia: research, hypotheses, evidence, and context.

I trust that this podcast is a helpful one for you.
